Prague City Walk is best for travelers who do not like to have planned itineraries and just follow the flow. Simply walk around the city, admire the gorgeous architecture, appreciate the city without high-rise buildings, and stopping by any restaurant or café are basically the best ways to spend your weekend in Prague.
Our handy Prague travel guide contains the itinerary on how to travel around the city with leisure.
Day 1: Breakfast at Lahůdky Zlatý kříž, Visit Charles Bridge-Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí)- Prašná brána. Late Lunch at Pork’s and Visit Petrin Hill in the Evening
Lahůdky Zlatý kříž, the local highly recommended deli. It is a sandwiches heaven popular with the traditional gourmet Czech open sandwich – chlebicek. It comes with plenty of filling choices e.g. ham, egg, hermelin (Czech cheese), crab and roast beef. As an early bird, I certainly appreciated the deli has been open since 7am on weekday.

Personally, i love to visit the popular landmarks particularly in the morning for less-crowded experience. Since it’s going to a lot of walking, so please do yourself a favor to wear the most comfortable shoes.
After breakfast, firstly, head to Charles Bridge before you ended up capturing photos of the tourists only. The morning atmosphere of Charles Bridge is so calm and beautiful. On the other hand, Charles Bridge is pretty happening, with the performance from local artists in the afternoon.

Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí), a plaza surrounded by former palaces is just few miles away from Charles Bridge. The Old Town has a lot to see and eat and hence it would be pretty packed by afternoon. Make sure you don’t miss out on the Astronomical Clock and also enjoy traditional street food such as Trdelnik.

Across the Old Square is the Gothic Church – Tyn Church (Týnský chrám), an amazing piece of Gothic architecture built in the 14th century. Before that, it used to be a primary place of worship for foreign merchants visiting the city.

Prašná brána, the Gothic Powder Tower or Powder Gate is just 5 minutes walking distance away from the Old Town Square. The Tower actually separates the Old Town and the New Town. Back in the 11th century it was one of the 13 gates through which Prague’s citizens could enter the Old Town. The tower is 65 meters tall and it takes 186 stairs to get to the viewing platform if you decide to climb it by paying a small fees of CZK 190.

*Early Bird Discount initiative: 50% off the admission fee every day during the first hour after opening.

For lunch, I have picked Pork’s which is about 20 mins walking distance from the Old Town Square. Pork’s is one of the must try restaurants best known for it’s pork knuckles and pilsner beer. Reservations are highly recommended since the restaurant is always crowded all day long.

After the big feast, it’s time to burn some calories by walking all the way to Petrin Tower for the sunset view. Petrin Towner is like a mini version of Paris’s Eiffel Tower. By climbing 299 steps inside to reach the top of the Petrin Tower, you will get the magnificent views of Prague in return. Lift is also available for visitor with the fees of 60 CZK per adult.

That’s the end of Day 1 and attached here with the map on the Day 1 itinerary.

Day 2: Visit Dancing House and Brunch at U Parlamentu before heading back to Vienna
Dancing House, a modern building designed in 1996 by the American architect frank O. Gehry. Very interesting and unique architectural work.

For lunch, I picked U Parlamentu, a very authentic Czech Restaurant which serves good Goulash. Make sure you don’t miss trying Goulash when you travel to Prague.

That’s wrap up the weekend gateway to Prague and attached here with the Day 2 itinerary map.
