Zhao Xing Dong Village is located in Liping County, Qiandongnan Prefecture, Guizhou Province. Best known as the “first village in Dong Township”, and the six most beautiful rural towns in China.
The village is not only a perfect place to explore the natural beauty but the rich cultural heritage too. The village is surrounded by the mountains, stunning terraced rice fields and unique architecture such as drum tower, water mills and opera stage.

We also discovered that the villages enjoy performing and good in embroidering and cloth dying. Every day at 10am and 4pm, the villages will greet the visitors at the main entrance with the Dong performance.
How to Get to Zhao Xing Dong Village
One popular route is to take the direct high-speed rail to Congjiang Station from Guiyang or Guangzhou. After reaching Congjiang Station, take the scenic minibus (one-way 10 yuan/person, round-trip 20 yuan/person). The journey will take about 15 minutes to arrive at the ticket admission center. Ticket entrance is 80 RMB/person.
My recommendation is check if the hotel can assist with the transport arrangement. The hotel where we stayed arranged a pick-up and drop-off, which was 50 yuan per trip.
What To Do in Zhao Xing Dong Village
1. Hike to Tong An Dong Village (8km away) for the stunning sunset view and rice terraces. Tang An Dong Village is much smaller than Zhao Xing Dong Village, but more primitive and well- preserved. To visit Tang An Dong Village, the recommended way to visit is on foot and reach the top before sunset. The hike will take about 2.5 to 3 hours to complete. The scenery along the way is very beautiful, surrounded by breathtaking view terraced rice fields. There is also shuttle service to Tang An Dong Village with 20 yuan round trip.
2. There are plenty of shops that offer Dye your own cloth experience at reasonable price (range from 35 yuan to 160 yuan)
3. Hire professional photographer and try on the Dong Costume is also a fun activity to do in the village. There are plenty of shops that offers make up and costume for rent too.
4. Simply Chill in Cafe
There are few cafes in the villages that offer very good coffee and chill ambience. Sometime doing nothing is also a way to relax our mind and body.
Where to Stay in Zhao Xing Dong Village
Make sure that the hotel is able to accept foreign tourists before making any reservation. There are plenty of hotels with basic amenities and services for selection. Recommend taking the scenic minibus or private car to your reserved hotel instead of dragging the luggage along the stone paths.
What to Eat in Zhao Xing Dong Village
Spicy sour fish is a special dish here. For non-spicy option, do not missed to try the roasted crispy pork, glutinous rice wrap, skewers and handmade glutinous rice cake.
